The Radiology of Emergency Medicine by John H. Harris,
The Radiology of Emergency Medicine by John H. Harris,
The thoroughly revised, updated Fourth Edition of this highly acclaimed classic remains the standard-setting reference on the radiologic assessment of all acute illnesses and injuries. Written by experienced radiologists, the book provides up-to-date, authoritative, unambiguous guidelines on the use and interpretation of all relevant imaging studies -- from conventional radiography to CT, MRI, and ultrasound. This edition features more CT, ultrasound, and MR images, providing a crystal-clear view of structures affected in emergency situations. The book details state-of-the-art applications of ultrasound for scrotal, gynecologic, and obstetrical emergencies and contemporary uses of CT for blunt abdominal and thoracic trauma, pulmonary embolism, acute aortic injury, and aortic dissection. Coverage of conventional radiography has been extensively revised and includes many new concepts on cervical spine, mid-face, and other injuries. Chapters on acute non-traumatic abdominal emergencies, abdominal trauma, and obstetric, gynecologic, and scrotal emergencies have been completely rewritten by experts on those specific topics.

Pneumoperitoneum - Pneumoperitoneum is air or gas in the abdominal (peritoneal) cavity, usually seen on x-ray. The most common cause is a perforated abdominal viscus, generally a perforated ulcer, although any part of the bowel may perforate from a benign ulcer, tumor or trauma.

Blunt force trauma - In medical terminology, blunt force trauma or blunt trauma is a type of physical trauma caused by impact or other force applied from or with a blunt object. Blunt force trauma, in one form or another, is the most common type of injury sustained by humans, and is a broad term covering more specific trauma: generally contusions, abrasions, lacerations, and/or bone fracture.
